FORMER Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Emano over the weekend said he will quit politics and may field someone for mayoralty bid in the city in the next polls.
Emano said the lack of financial resources is a factor that could impede him to seek a mayoral post anew against incumbent mayor Oscar Moreno.
"Wala nakoy laraw kay wala nakoy kwarta. Very sadly di ako natutong magnakaw sa panahon ko. Si Bambi na lang siguro or Nadya ang modagan pagka mayor kay ako di na, (I did not learn to steal during my time (as mayor). Bambi or Nadya should run for mayor instead of me)," Emano said.
But, the erstwhile mayor also said the Padayon Pilipino party, which he founded, may also not field his son Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano for the top post in the city in the next elections.
He said the people of the province still need the services and programs of the present administration.
"Dili mahimo nga modagan og mayor si Bambi kay kung ako pabut-on pagka-gobernador lang gihapon kay utang buot kana sa katawhan sa lalawigan nga dili dapat talikdan," the older Emano said.
The ex-mayor said the challenge posed by Moreno in asking his son to run for mayor is only meant to remove Bambi from the province so their gubernatorial bet would win in the province.
Moreno, in a press briefing at the city hall last week, dared Governor Emano to run against him.
"Ang ilang tinguha nga mawala si Bambi sa lalawigan padaganon dinhi aron makadaog ilang tawo sa probinsya," Dongkoy said.
"But you know he (Moreno) is not going to stay as mayor for a long time he will be definitely be out of office," he added.
Emano said he may field Councilor Nadya Emano-Elipe but it will still depend on the party's collective decision.
"In politics anything is possible we just have to wait. There will be lots of consultations and evaluate lots of things," he said.
Emano said the party may also find another tandem of the present governor should Vice Governor Joey Pelaez decide to run for congress.
For the Padayon Pilipino founder said the election must be pushed through so people can decide for their leaders.
"Kung mahimo madayon unta ang piliay kay katungod sa katawhan ang mopili sa ilang opisyal pero dili man kita kabuot sa taas," he said.
Emano said the force of the Padayon Pilipino in the city and province remains strong.
