BOEUNG Ket Angkor FC of Cambodia arrived at Bacolod-Silay Airport on Sunday for Tuesday’s AFC Cup match against the Philippines’ Ceres Negros FC at Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
The 2017 Cambodian League champions are expected to bring another strong challenge against the Philippine champions and reigning AFC Cup Asean Zonal titlist.
Boeung Ket FC made their debut appearance in the AFC Cup after beating Lao Toyota FC of Laos in the play-offs.
The Cambodian side will be bannered by Sou Yaty, Ly Vahed, Sok Sovan, Touch Pancharong, Math Yamoin, Khuon Laboravy, Sleh Sen, Our Phearon, Chhun Sothearath, Ly Mizan, Sun Sovannrithy, Khiev Vibol, Lim You, Hong Pheng, Rous Samoeun, Om Channou, Kim Makara, Sath Rosib, Chea Vesly, and Khun Seng Thai.
The team will also be reinforced by Japanese midfielder Hikaru Mizuno, Brazilian striker Maycon Silva Calijuri, and Nigerean forwards Julius Oiboh and Gbenga Samuel Ajayi.
Calijuri, then playing for FC Gomel, was named top scorer of Belarusian Premier League in the 2009 season with 15 goals while the 26-year-old Mizuno is a versatile player at the midfield.
The Global Cebu FC, the other Philippine squad, bowed to FLC Thanh Hoa, 1-0 on Pape Omar Faye’s 74th minute goal before the 4,000 plus home crowd at My Dinh Stadium, Vietnam.
Nguyen Xuan Thanh sent a cross to Global’s left post where Faye was left unmarked for a header past Global Cebu keeper Patrick Deyto.
