3 injured in Zamboanga del Sur drive-by gun attack

THREE people were injured in a drive-by gun attack along the highway of Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Monday, February 12.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident occurred around 2:35 p.m. Sunday in Purok 1, Barangay Guitran, Dumingag.

Galvez said the victims were identified as Raffy Zisa; Isagani Balili, 52, and his wife, Geraldine, 46.

Investigation showed that Zisa was repeatedly shot by one of two motorcycle-riding gunmen while he was driving a cargo truck loaded with bamboo furniture owned by the Balili couple.

Galvez said Zisa sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while the Balili couple, who were seated beside him, was also wounded as some of the bullet pierced through the driver's body.

She said the victims were traveling from Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte to the village of San Pedro, Dumingag when the incident happened. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
