A TOTAL of 190 high-profile inmates and 22 personnel of Metro Bacolod District Jail (MBDJ)-Male Dormitory in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City, yielded negative results in the surprise drug test conducted inside the jail on February 12.
Senior Inspector Norberto Miciano, jail warden of MBDJ, said they submitted urine samples after conducting simultaneous greyhound operations around 6:30 a.m. in two jails, including the MBDJ-Female Dormitory.
Miciano said they are happy with the drug test results and the lesser nuisance items recovered from the inmates.
"It only showed the effectiveness of our intensified security measures inside the jail and also with visitors," he added.
The MBDJ-Male Dormitory hosts the 767 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
The operation was conducted in coordination with the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA.
The operation also resulted in the recovery of ropes, electrical wires, wood, nails, and three improvised bladed weapons from the male inmates.
Hangers, unauthorized clothes, ballpens, and bottles were seized from among the 189 female inmates.
