The Chinese New Year and Spring Festival

THE Chinese culture has, for centuries, been embedded in our lifestyle through meaningful acculturation exposure. The Cebu-China ties have been sustained through arts, culture and trade. The People’s Republic of China hosted a dinner to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Consul general Shi Yong, from the Consulate of the People’s Republic of China in Cebu, lauded the long-time friendship between Cebu and China. He looks forward to deeper educational and economic ties. The Festival of Spring, which will enhance the Chinese art and culture in the city, will be held on March 6 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino (WCCHC).

The Lunar New Year was a colorful celebration held at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa. Marco Polo Plaza Cebu showcased the Year of the Earth Dog in Gong Xi Fa Chai dinner.

WCCHC welcomed the Year of the Dog with the traditional dragon dance and so did Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino. Indeed, all were feasts for the eyes!

And meanwhile, talented children competed and won in various musical and academic programs. The Cebu Eastern College dance and choir groups were the performers in various Chinese New Year programs.
