PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief Ronald dela Rosa said Wednesday, February 21, that he would always choose President Rodrigo Dutrete over his family.
Dela Rosa was reacting to the President's intention to further extend his service.
The PNP chief said he is willing to serve Duterte "until his last breath."
Dela Rosa was due to retire in January, when he reached the mandatory retirement age of 56 for uniformed personnel.
Duterte, however, asked to extend his service for three months, or until April 21.
Dela Rosa admitted that his family, especially his daughters, were a bit disappointed by his term extension.
“(Ang plano ko) ikulong ko aking mga dalaga doon sa bahay namin sa Barangay Bato, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur tapos wala kaming gagawin kundi maligo sa dagat, mangisda. ‘Yun lang gusto kong gawin, magrelax with my family dahil after a while hindi ko na yan makontrol, magsipag asawa na yan,” he said.
“A little bit disappointed ang mga bata but they are proud that their dad still enjoys the trust and confidence of the President so happy pa rin sila. Sanay na ‘yung pamilya ko na 2nd priority sila palagi, first priority yung serbisyo,” he added.
Dela Rosa says he was happy at the same time sad over his term extension:Masaya dahil nanjan pa trust & confidence sa atin pero sad kasi may mga nasirang plano ang pamilya @sunstaronline pic.twitter.com/XWfLhfxOnA— Third Anne Malonzo (@3rdAnnePeralta) February 21, 2018
