The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on the 20th of February at the main entry point of Mount Ulap, Itogon Municipal Police Office Chief Inspector Eugene Raymundo said.

Witnesses said the fire may have come from parts of burning bushes used by honey bee harvesters who may have affected the dried grass at the entrance of the mountain.

Five male persons believed to be the honey bee harvesters tried to put the fire out to no avail and instead ran away from the area.

Fire operatives who responded declared the fire out at 5 p.m. and assessed the burned area to be around 4 hectares.

Itogon fire operatives did not record any injuries nor casualties from the blaze and is still in the process of identifying the honey bee harvesters.

Meanwhile, the stock room of the Aguinaldo Elementary School along Lower Q.M. Subdivision in Baguio City caught fire after grade six pupils were reported to have been playing with matches inside the room.

Students and the schools security guard successfully doused the fire with water to prevent it from spreading before the arrival of Baguio City's Bravest.

Responding operatives of the Baguio City Fire Department led by Senior Fire Officer 4 Posteur Beato conducted a physical inspection and assessment of the schools stock room and its premises before declaring the fire out at around 4 p.m. of the same day with no reported injuries from the fire.
