"Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes" actresses Angelica Panganiban and Judy Ann Santos, the former revealed that she was once dumped by an ex-boyfriend via text message.
"Magandang Buhay" host Karla Estrada asked Angelica if she already experienced breaking up in person.
She made a sad face and answered, “Gusto ko sana, pero hindi nila binibigay.”
Then, suddenly, she and Judy Ann burst into laughter.
Angelica added in jest, “Hanggang text lang ba naipundar ko? Ang dami kong naibigay, 'tapos nung hiwalayan, hanggang text lang? I don't deserve it.”
Judy Ann agreed and said, “Kasi, ang tagal mo akong niligawan, ang tagal mo akong prinoseso. Tapos noong nakipaghiwalay ka, ganun na lang yun? Basta ka lumigwak? I mean, yung respeto. Yung kahit papaano man lang ipakita mo na I mean something to you.”
Angelica seconded, “At saka yung may pinagsamahan kayo. Hindi naman yung parang naglokohan lang kayo. Kasi, pati ikaw, magiging bitter ka doon sa pinagsamahan n'yo. Ayaw n'yo naman na magkaroon kayo ng pangit na closure, di ba? Maganda yung, 'Tapusin na natin 'to.' Oo, may galit 'yan, may pain 'yan, pero alam mo eventually na puwede kayo maging magkaibigan kapag tinapos ninyo sa maayos na paraan.”
Like Angelica, here are other celebrities who experienced a text message breakup: Heart Evangelista and Jericho Rosales.
Jericho Rosales still looked so shocked when he was interviewed by entertainment reporters upon arriving from his month-long taping in Malaysia for his teleserye Kahit Isang Saglit in 2008.
He still couldn't believe that his three-year relationship with Heart just ended.
He said, “Sad news and, you know, there's been a big mistake.”
When pressed for more details, Jericho added, “I, myself, I'm confused, e. I heard nakipag-break siya sa akin on TV, e, so... On text, it wasn't clear, e.”
Initial reports cited his onscreen partner then, Malaysian actress Carmen Soo, as the reason for their breakup. There were also talks that their split was because of Heart's parents.
In a guest appearance on Tonight with Arnold Clavio, this was somehow confirmed by Heart while playing a game called “Nasubukan Mo Na Ba.”
Heart raised the card “OO” to answer the question, “Nasubukan mo na bang makipag-break sa text.”
She admitted that it was her who initiated the breakup.
She further said, “Kasi pinaghiwalay kami ng mga magulang ko. Charot! Hindi, nahihiya ako, e. Mas gugustuhin kong magalit siya sa akin para hindi siya mahirapan.”
But all is well between these ex-lovers, who are both happily married now.
Ellen Adarna and Baste Duterte
After “seven or eight months” of being together, sexy star Ellen Adarna and presidential son Baste Duterte called it quits.
She recalled, “Instead of parang girlfriend na 'Good morning,' ganyan-ganyan. Ang text niya, 'Ano kaya kung maghiwalay tayo?' Question mark. Siya ang nagsabi. And then, ayun, hindi na kami nag-usap."
Months after the breakup, Ellen and Baste eventually became friends, or best friend as the former said.
