DAVAO City Durians is still the champion.
For many years, Durians did not miss the crown as the overall champion of the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet.
Last year, according to the records of Department of Education 11, the Durians won 126 gold medals, 105 silvers and 76 bronzes during the Davraa meet in Mati City.
This year, as host city, Durians did not let the Dabawenyos down as they continue to dominate the event.
Durians finished the season as overall champion. The Durians won 184 gold medals, 111 silvers and 76 bronzes.
Most of the gold medals awarded to the Durians came from the team sports.
They also did not drop in athletics events where they also won several gold medals.
A great achievement for the Durians this year, indeed, as they exceeded the numbers of gold medals from last year's Davraa. It testifies the continuing progress of Davao City's sports program.
Next to champion Durians is the Tagum Tagumpay as the first runner-up with 58 golds, 54 silvers and 61 bronzes.
Second runner-up is the Digos City Trekkers with 23 golds, 37 silvers and 49 bronzes, while third runner-up is the Panabo Banana Magnates with 22 golds, 50 silvers, 57 bronzes.
Fourth runner-up, meanwhile, is the Davao del Sur Cobras with 15 golds, 25 silvers and 39 bronzes.

5th runner-up Davao Occidental (13 golds, 9 silvers, 20 bronzes)
6th runner-up Davao del Norte (12 golds, 18 silvers, 42 bronzes)
7th runner-up Mati City (9 golds, 7 silvers, 12 bronzes)
8th runner-up Compostela Valley (8 golds, 26 silvers, 53 bronzes)
9th runner-up Davao Oriental (8 golds, 14 silvers, 31 bronzes)
10th runner-up IGACOS (1 golds, 3 silvers, 5 bronzes)
In her speech during the closing ceremony of the event that was held at the University of Mindanao, Matina Campus, Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio expressed her intention in hosting once again the Davraa Meet in 2019.
