ILOILO City Mayor Jose Espinosa III recognized two Ilonggo topnotchers in the 2018 Physical Therapist (PT) board examination released in February during City Hall’s Monday flag ceremony on March 5.
Top 1 Kevin Ceroriales Bordones and Top 9 Jayson Nandin Montinola, both of St. Paul University-Iloilo, received mayor’s citations and P5,000 and P3,000 incentives, respectively.
“We are proud of what these professionals have achieved and this is a manifestation that Ilonggos are smart and excellent in their chosen field,” said Espinosa.
Bordones obtained 85.75 percent while Montinola got 84.45 percent based on the result of Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Bordones said he is overwhelmed until now with the board exam result.
“I still could not comprehend everything but nevertheless I am happy because I make my school and Iloilo City proud of what I have achieved,” said Bordones.
Before taking the exam, he said he felt a little bit pressured because of the expectations of people around him.
Bordones, whose sister is also a PT, said he only wanted to work like her, but after his internship, he got to love the idea of being a PT and helping others especially stroke patients.
“I want to give what I can do to my patients and also to the PT community because it seems that not everybody knows what PT is. I want the people to know who we are, what are we doing and how can we help them,” Bordones added.
He said there were institutions in Manila that offered work to him, but Bordones said after he takes his oath, he plans to work abroad to support his family. (PR)
