FIRST district Representative Celso Lobregat announced that the road project under the Road Convergence Program (RCP) of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now on its finishing stage.
Lobregat, who chairs the House Committee on Public Works and Highway, said the project included the concreting of the 25.7-kilometer road from Junction of the national highway in Ayala village to the Nancy Falls in the village of La Paz.
The road has been classified “as a road leading to a tourism site.”
Lobregat said the National Government has appropriated P150 million this year for the road project, which is being done through the combined efforts of the DOT and DPWH.
He said the City Government could only afford to allocate P5 to P10 million in the past years to concrete and maintain the Ayala-La Paz Road.
The lawmaker said the National Government through the DOT and DPWH road convergence program had been pouring millions of pesos annually for the past five years for the Ayala-La Paz road.
The fund would reach almost P1 billion by the time the project will be completed, according to Lobregat.
“The roads leading to eco-tourism sites is also very vital, it is also the main artery for the highlands, which would also benefit our farmers as well,” he said. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
