Nonoy Zuñiga excites fans on upcoming concert at LGEC

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Celebrated Filipino crooner Nonoy Zuñiga is all set to perform live at the LausGroup Event Centre (LGEC) this March 16, as he announced that he is "very much excited" to serenade concert-goers from in and out of Central Luzon.

In an interview with Talakayan's Perry Pangan, Boy Santiago and Albert Lacanlale over RW 95.1 FM on March 7, the balladeer said he will be singing his classic hits "Never Ever Say Goodbye," "Kamusta Ka?," and "Doon Lang," to name some.

"These are, of course, some of my favorite and most memorable songs not only because it speaks for me as an artist, but because it was through a collaboration with acclaimed composer and my good friend Willy Cruz," he said.

He noted that the concert, entitled "The Man and his Music," will highlight his journey in the music industry and the stories behind his OPM songs that cemented his place as one of the country's top hitmakers.

"I will be singing all my hits by segment. Each part will portray myself as a folk artist, as member of a band, and as a solo artist. So makikita niyo ako na mag-gigitara, then may live band din akong kasama, and sa last part... basta abangan niyo na lang," he teased.

"I believe everyone will enjoy kasi pinaghandaan ko talaga ito," he added.

Moreover, Zuñiga relayed that he will be performing his well-loved hit "Ako ay Ikaw Rin," which is his tribute to fellow handicapped individuals.

It can be remembered that the singer was one of the victims of a series of bombings that rocked Metro Manila from June to October 1980. The incident, which happened during one of his shows, severely injured the singer's right leg, which had to be amputated later.

Zuñiga said that after surviving the explosion, he became an advocate through his inspirational songs for people with disabilities.

"The accident led me to become an inspiration to others. Through it, I learned to take life seriously but with a smile. It's also the same reason why every time I step and perform on stage, I give my best," he said.

To date, Zuñiga has more than 15 albums since becoming a record artist in 1981. The balladeer said he will be launching a new single soon.

"Ngayon, nag-eeksperimento ako. I'm recording a Cebuano song, and well, who knows, maybe a Kapampangan song next," he said.
