LAST week, we were lined up for parking outside SM Baguio, when this gray Montero bumped into the back of the car.
Chiara had to get out and call the driver’s attention. His initial reaction was surprise.
And his reason? The other cars would not let him into the line.
Of course no one would! Anyone parking in SM Baguio since their renovations knows that you have to be in line starting around the supermarket area, and you have to wait your turn. Sometimes you may need to turn around and wait in line again. Or again.
So I don’t know what the driver was thinking. It’s very bad manners to cut in line, parking lines included.
And then his reason: the other drivers would not let him in.
For me, this is absolutely absurd.
He was in control. He’s the driver. No one among the other drivers told him to choose that moment to edge in. No one held a gun to his head to force him to make that move at that exact moment.
What totally irritated me was his refusal to take responsibility for his actions. He had the gall to blame the other drivers when it was his decision that created the accident.
Which gets me to thinking, a lot of times people blame other people or circumstances for their decisions.
They say I did this because this person did this, so it is the other person’s fault.
Wrong.
Your decisions are your responsibility. Ultimately, you make the choice. You are responsible.
Like I always say to the kids, nobody held a gun to your head and forced you to make that decision. You decided for yourself to make that move, or say those words. So, accept responsibility.
Like in the Law of Attraction. You have to accept responsibility for the vibrations you send out. Your vibrations equal your experiences.
And once you accept that you are accountable for what is in your life because of what you vibrate, you have the power to create a better experience for yourself.

Know what was funny about the incident? Less than an hour before that, Chiara and I were discussing the scratches on Aa’s car. And I said she takes better care because there are none on hers. I think I jinxed it. I should have said “pwera usog.”
But it’s so Law of Attraction. Our graduates will understand.
After the bump, there were a few scratches on the left bumper. Almost negligible. One of the security guards was amazed and exclaimed “parang wala” when the cars separated and he examined our car for damages.
You should see the Montero. Its right front bumper had deep scratches and a very visible dent.
If only the driver had been a little more patient. If only he’d been more conscious of the rules of waiting in line, then the incident would have been avoided.
