IN probably a couple of years, the month of March won’t necesarily mean “graduation” for most of our students. The Philippine school year is slowly adapting to the K to 12 program, and with welcoming the new comes leaving behind the old.
But it’s all good.
Graduation is a time when good friends bid each other goodbye. However, this is seldom the case. Since Cebu is pretty much a small town, everybody gets to hang out with their friends at least once in a while. But even with the assurances of future movie nights and coffee chats, graduation is an emotional event young people love to revel in.
A march for victory, a march on toward future things, here are some popular tracks dedicated to those who are ready to move on.
“The Climb” - Miley Cyrus
This here’s about embracing the hard times that passed and the journey that’s to come.
“See You Again” - Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth
You’re born into family. But sometimes, you make them along the way. This here’s a track about that, parting yet still hoping for the best.
“Graduation (Friends Forever)” - Vitamin C
This is a track that talks about accepting moving on while respecting all the memories friends made.
“Don’t You (Forget About Me)” - Simple Minds
The question looms: will friendships last post-graduation? This song explores that theme.
“Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” - Green Day
This melodic and melancholic track preaches about not giving up in the ups and downs of life, instead, making a time out of it.
