DUE to the road closures that will be implemented during the Alveo Ironman 70.3 World Triathlon Competition, Davao city government will be providing free bus rides to those who will be taking the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) from Tagum, Carmen, and Panabo on Sunday, March 25.
Based on a report from Davao City Information Office (CIO), Davao City Traffic and Transportation Management Office (CTTMO) chief Dionisio Abude said that city government commissioned four Metro Shuttle buses for the use of the LET takers traveling to Davao City.
Two of the buses will be stationed at the Jollibee Crossing in Tagum City, one in Carmen - across the Municipal Hall - and another bus in Panabo City, to be stationed in front of the overpass near the Panabo Public Market.
“LET takers going to Davao are advised to be at the stations on or before 3 a.m. as the buses will be leaving at 3:30 am,” Abude said.
During the Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao, the northbound (going towards Tagum City) and southbound lanes (going towards Davao City) of the Davao City-Panabo City Road, specifically from the intersection of J.P. Laurel Avenue and R. Castillo St. (Alcantara) up to the boundary of Davao and Panabo City will be closed from 3 am to 12:30 pm.
No entry will be allowed on the northbound lane of J.P. Laurel Avenue, specifically from the intersection of J.P. Laurel Avenue and R. Castillo St. (Alcantara) up to F. Torres St. from 3 am up to 3:30 pm on March 25. The southbound lane going to Davao City center will be opened and used for two-way traffic, but only up to Alcantara.
Abude advised motorists to take the following alternate routes to get to their destinations:
From Tagum City, take:
• Mabini St.
• Tagum-Panabo Circumferential Road
• Brgy. Lacson Road
• Little Panay
• San Isidro, Bunawan
• Mahayag, Bunawan
• Cabantian, Buhangin
From Carmen:
• Santo Tomas – Carmen Road
• Tagum – Panabo Circumferential Road
• Brgy. Lacson Road
• Little Panay
• San Isidro, Bunawan
• Mahayag, Bunawan
• Cabantian, Buhangin
From Panabo City, take:
• Cabaluna St.
• Little Panay
• San Isidro
• Mahayag, Bunawan
• Cabantian, Buhangin
Abude emphasized that during the road closure, no vehicle may cross the affected roads and all pedestrians may cross only through available pedestrian overpasses.
Ironman 70.3 Davao is a licensed and sanctioned athletic event of the World Triathlon Corporation. The course of the race will include areas of the cities of Davao, Panabo, Tagum and Municipality of Carmen.
