Why do people love Moira?

WHAT is it in Moira dela Torre and in her songs that have captured the hearts of so many fans?

Moira is obviously making waves right now in the local music industry. It is worth noting, though, that it took her years before she has finally made a name for herself.

Only a few people could probably recall that the 24-year-old singer was part of the first season of the local franchise of the international singing competition “The Voice.” It was aired on the Kapamilya Network in 1993, with Mitoy Yonting from coach Lea Salonga’s team as the grand champion.

Few years after the tilt, Moira’s popularity has widened, with fan base that has become stronger. In fact, even elementary students can sing along with some of her most famous songs, like “Titibo-Tibo” and her take of Moonstar88’s “Torete.”

As I watched her live at Abreeza Mall Activity Center last March 16, I was shocked to be greeted with all the seats and the entire mall filled with her fans, from teenagers to adults. Honestly, I never expected that she is that popular already.

I tried asking some of the audience why they love Moira. Here are the three main reasons I got from them:

Her voice is undeniably soothing. They said that it is really mesmerizing listening to her.

She is such a sweet performer on stage. Some of the audience shared that Moira is one artist who knows how to make her fans feel special.

Her songs are easy to recall and the rhythm is just catchy. They revealed that once you have heard of her song, it is just easy to memorize the lyrics as well as the rhythm.

Few of the younger audience also talked about Moira’s boyfriend Jason Marvin as another reason why they have fallen in love with her more.

Accordingly, their sweetness, even on stage, is #couplegoal for some of them.

During her latest show here, Jason was Moira’s guitarist and they promoted her newest album called “Malaya.”

“I wrote my ‘Malaya’ album kasi naiintindihan ko ‘yong feeling na hindi ako nag-iisa. May mga taong dapat nilang malaman na hindi sila nagiisa.... that you are free and you don’t have to experience this pain anymore,” she narrated.

The fans cheered, but their voices were louder when Jason said, “Okay lang ba na since it’s our monthsary ay kakantahan ko siya?”

Moira and Jason then sang “Perfect” together.

Before ending her “Araw ng Dabaw” mall show here, Moira promised to be back soon for her “Malaya” album tour.
