YESTERDAY'S resumption of the "Laro't Saya sa Parke Program", a joint program of Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Sports Development Division-City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO), attracted a total of 395 participants at the People's Park.
SDD-CMO staff Renah Vidamo said they recorded a total of 330 random people who joined the zumba while 27 people tried the taekwondo and 19 participants each for boxing and karatedo.
"Batang Pinoy athletes also joined the program that served as their training for the nationals. Some of them also helped their coaches teach newbies," said Vidamo in vernacular.
The free-registration play and learn sports program also gave away raffle prizes which include socks, shirts and shorts for the participants courtesy of the PSC.
Vidamo, however, said they are hoping to have more participants as the program of PSC and SDD-CMO encourages family bonding through fitness and health.
The program was launched in Davao City last 2015 and was re-launched two years later.
Aside from Davao City, the park-based program is also being done across the country.
