ANTI-narcotics operatives seized P4.6 million worth of illegal drugs in separate operations on Tuesday, April 17, in three villages in Cebu City.
At 9:30 p.m., the joint personnel of Special Operations Unit (SOU) 5 caught Mark Albano Abella in a drug bust in Sitio Sampaguita, Barangay Tejero and they seized 175 grams of white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu.
The contraband is worth P2.06 million, a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value.
Superintendent Glenn Mayam, SOU5 acting chief, said the suspect is one of the big-time illegal drugs distributor in Metro Cebu and neighboring towns.
SO5 is composed of Drug Enforcement Group, (DEG), Regional Intelligence Division-Central Visayas, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-Central Visayas, Cebu City Intelligence Branch (CIB) and Cebu City Police Station 3.
The operation was supervised by Chief Superintendent Albert Ignatius Ferro, DEG director.
At 9 p.m., Cebu City Police Office operatives arrested Ricardo Daan Booc, who yielded 5.7 grams of "shabu" with DDB value of P67,260.
In Sitio Mapa, Barangay Tagba-o, the joint opeartives of City Mobile Force Company of CCPO, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas, Naval Intelligence Security Group Central and the Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Cebu Provincial Police Office uprooted 5,460 marijuana plants.
The uprooting started at 5 a.m. and ended at 12 p.m. No cultivator was caught. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
