THE City Treasurer's Office has already prepared the ballot boxes needed for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections this May 14.
Gerardo Arangosa, CTO representative to Comelec during the I-speak media forum on Thursday, April 19, said the ballot boxes are already complete.
"Our ballot boxes are complete. In fact, we are already prepared to segregate it by teams. Out of 14 teams, seven teams have segregated their ballots for May 14, and they are ready for pick up and at the same time be distributed to their respective places," he said.
Arangosa said the ballots will be distributed one day before the elections. But these will be stored at the school’s Office of the Principal for security.
He said assigned policemen will secure the area, but they have yet to request their presence.
A total of 2,733 ballot boxes will be distributed: 1,081 for District 1; 863 for District 2; and 789 for District 3.
Arangosa said these ballot boxes are currently stored at their storage facility located at SIR, Matina.
"Each ballot has a serial number which we recorded in case problems arise on the ballot boxes. In case there are problems we can easily identify and, we can easily check if it is lost because the serial number is recorded on our computer," he said.
He added that they made sure that all ballots are serviceable.
"We did not include the unserviceable ballot boxes to avoid questions; this is the reason why we have segregated the ballots. In fact we've started cleaning and segregating ballot boxes long time ago," he said.
