SENATOR Antonio Trillanes IV is immune from suit in performing his job as legislator, Senate President Franklin Drilon said Sunday.
In a radio interview, Drilon said Trillanes cannot be questioned in any other place except the Senate.

u202aEarlier, Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr. sued Trillanes for libel before the Makati City Prosecutor's Office allegedly for “publicly and maliciously”accusing him and his family of bribery and other crimes and irregularities.
u202aIn his complaint, Binay said it was evident from the media interview of Trillanes and the subsequent articles published in various newspapers that the senator accused them despite lack of evidence.
Trillanes has accused Binay of bribing members of the Sixth Division of the Court of Appeals (CA) by paying them millions of pesos in exchange for issuing a temporary restraining order and writ of preliminary injunction against his suspension order from the Office of the Ombudsman.
The senator said he will not be cowed by the libel charges against him. (Sunnex)
