MORE than 5,000 available local and overseas job opportunities will be offered to jobseekers by 27 local companies and 11 overseas recruitment agencies during the Labor Day jobs fair on at the Baguio Convention Center on May 1.
Bulk of the vacancies are job opportunities abroad with 5,036 slots while 957 are local jobs are available, according to Department of Labor and Employment (Dole)-Cordillera Director Nathaniel Lacambra.
“This 114th Labor Day celebration focuses on the effort of the Department in developing the country’s top resource - the workers, and generating decent and productive jobs to secure a brighter future for the country,” Lacambra added.
Top local job vacancies include customer support representative, sales clerk, cashiers, bagger, production operator, technical support representative, sales and property manager, stock clerk, English as second language (ESL) teacher, carpenters, bookkeeper, technician, IT staff or specialist.
While top job orders for overseas employment are cleaners, barista, service workers/ laborers, service crews, general nurse, delivery nurse, special Nurse, pipe fitters, industrial engineers, scaffolders, manicurist or shampoo Girl.
Job seekers are also encouraged to have their pre-registration on April 25 to 29, 2016 at Dole-Cordillera (Baguio-Benguet Field Office) for job and skills matching. The pre-registration will help the jobseekers for their skills, educational background and experience will be matched to job vacancies available on Labor Day Jobs Fair.
Jobseekers are advised to bring their high school and/or college diploma, comprehensive resume, police and/or National Bureau of Investigation clearance, transcript of (school) records, 2x2 ID pictures, SSS Number, Tax Identification Number and Professional license while other companies will request for portfolio or samples of work. For overseas employment, applicants are reminded to bring their Passport (valid at least 6 months).
Jalbuena also advised jobseekers to wear business attire or smart casual.
Other activities on Labor Day are livelihood fair, free massage and haircut by Tesda graduates. Jobseekers may also avail of free overseas calls to their families abroad. (PR)
