CBE marks 15th year, sets exhibit

INNOVATIVE approaches to improving the quality of education will be highlighted at the Coalition for Better Education’s (CBE) “Celebrate CBE” mini-exhibit, which will be launched today, April 29, at the intersection of Paseo Marina and Paseo Ciudad at the Ayala Center Cebu. The exhibit runs until May 1.

The Cebu-based coalition is a broad-based non-government organization composed of teachers and school administrators, students, parents, government, other non-government and development groups and the business community.

Believing that ignorance and poverty in the Philippines can be overcome by holistically learned communities, CBE has determinedly pursued its vision of creating empowered learning communities.

Throughout its history, CBE linked with industry and the business sector to generate inputs for enriched education curricula and the development of world-class materials for classroom instruction. Also engaged in the total learning support chain are parents and the communities.

Aside from pursuing advocacies toward the implementation of the K to 12 system, Education for All and the 10-Point Philippine Education Agenda, CBE sustains the center for teacher excellence at the Cebu Normal University as part of its research, training and development component.

Among the successes that CBE celebrates annually is outstanding achievement by education graduates through the awarding of the CBE medal of excellence.

During the opening of “Celebrate CBE,” 10 graduates of the Bachelors of Science in Education programs of various universities and colleges in Cebu City will be presented as this year’s medal of excellence awardees.

The ceremonial pinning of medals will be held at the exhibit opening.
