MABALACAT CITY -- Movie actress and television host Kris Aquino said Saturday that she believes that Liberal Party (LP) vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo, as a good mother, will be a good leader of the country.
“With Leni Robredo, nararamdaman ko na she’s really going to be there to serve the people,” said Aquino, who also endorsed the candidacy of Robredo and even joined some of her campaign events.
“I feel this woman embodies what I aspire to be. Motherhood, iyong pagiging nanay, really matters because I know that a good mother will be a good leader,” she added.
For Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto, Robredo is the perfect embodiment of a mother because of her sincere and utmost desire to help the people, without expecting anything in return.
“Importante ang may pulso ng nanay. Kapag may touch ng pulso ng nanay, ito pong mangangalaga sa ating asawa't mga anak. Bilang isang ina, alam po namin ang pulso't pangangailangan ng buong pamilya,” Santos said in a previous event in Batangas.
During her closing remarks in the second vice presidential debate last April 17, Robredo likened herself to a mother who will sacrifice everything for the sake of her children and loved ones, despite the everyday challenges.
“Ang isa pong mabuting ina ay naasahan sa kahit anong panahon, hindi umaatras sa hamon, sumisikap bawat araw na maging mabuting example sa kanyang mga anak, binibigay ang lahat walang tinitira sa sarili,” said Robredo.
When her husband, former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, died in a plane crash in 2012, Leni acted as both father and mother to their three daughter.
Even when she was working as lawyer for the poor, Robredo always made sure to attend to her daughters’ needs. When she became a lawmaker, Robredo ensures that she doesn’t miss on her mother duties.
A lawyer for the poor, Robredo provided free legal aid to the marginalized sectors of society, including farmers, fishermen and abused women for a long time before becoming the representative of the Third District of Camarines Sur.
Robredo recently topped the Social Weather Stations and Pulse Asia polls.
