Suspected drug trader killed in shootout

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO--A suspected notorious drug pusher was killed in a shootout with anti-illegal drug operatives at dawn yesterday at Purok 13, Barangay Sta. Lucia this city.

The slain suspect was identified as Alvin Bais y Bondoc alias Alvin, a notorious drug-peddler and a resident of said barangay, who shot it out with joint elements from the Pampanga Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Branch/PAIDSOTG, City of San Fernando police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Police Regional Office III.

Police Chief Inspector Michael Bañaga Masangkay of the PIB/PAIDSOTG disclosed in his report that after operatives conducted a buy-bust operation, Bais allegedly sensed that "he was busted by law enforcement, then posed aggression and drew out his revolver pistol and opened fire towards the operatives affecting his arrest."

In retaliation, Masangkay said, operatives---with evident presence of imminent danger in life--fired at the suspect who sustained gunshot wounds in the body and died on the spot.

The suspect's body has been brought to Punzalan Funeral Homes in the City of San Fernando for autopsy.

Scene of the crime operatives led by PCI Bernalen Rago Agpalasin later arrived at the scene and recovered one caliber .38 revolver loaded with four ammunitions; three pieces fired cartridge cases for cal. 9mm pistol; one piece partially opened small size transparent plastic sachet containing a crystalline substance believe to be shabu; one cigarette pack containing four pieces small size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing crystalline substance believe to be shabu; one aluminum foil strip containing suspected shabu; one rolled aluminum foil; four small plastic sachets containing suspected shabu residue; one plastic box containing 16 small size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing crystalline substance believe to be shabu; the P500 buy bust bearing Serial No. YV70917 with marking FAG and one piece small size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing crystalline substance believe to be shabu which was the subject of sale.

The seized pieces of evidence will be submitted to the regional crime laboratory for examination while investigation continues, Masangkay said.
