Despite non-renewal of permit from Pagcor: E-bingo continues operation

DESPITE the expiration of PhilWeb Corp's agreement with Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) as service provider, operations of e-games and e-bingo in Baguio City continue.

On August 10, PhilWeb's Intellectual Property Licensing and Management Agreement with Pagcor expired, which means PhilWeb-operated e-games should have halted.

But despite this, Mayor Mauricio Domogan stated operations of e-games in the city still continue.

"Meron pa ring mga nag-ooperate dito sa city. Kung attached sila sa PhilWeb dapat mag issue ang Pagcor ng order to all the LGUs where these e-games are operating na hindi na sila puwedeng mag operate so we could stop the operation," Domogan said.

Domogan added there are e-games and e-bingo in the city which have been issued with permit to operate that will expire at the end of the year.

Domogan said a Pagcor order to halt operations of PhilWeb operated e-games and e-bingo in the city is important to avoid any misconceptions between the city and the operators.

"Para hindi sila mag aaway, kagaya nito binigyan mo ng permit with the duration na up to the end of this year and then bawiin mo yung permit ano ang pagbasehan mo," Domogan narrated.

Domogan explained it is not good to issue an stoppage order based on allegations only and there must be a legal basis such as an order or a letter from Pagcor.

"So I said sulatan ninyo (licensing division) ang Pagcor what is now the status of these e-games outlets na nabigyan ng permit to operate dito sa city para may maliwanag na basehan para masabi natin sa kanila na wala na binawi na nang Pagcor yung permit ng PhilWeb. Sorry na lang pero babawiin din namin yung inyong [e-games operators] business permit that has been issued to you sana ganun para naman klaro sa kanila," Domogan closed.
