BSU’s agri project lacks papers
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet - Stakeholders to the multimillion Agri-Pinoy Project at the Benguet State University (BSU) Strawberry fields are being asked to submit necessary papers for its completion.
Department of Agriculture (DA) undersecretary for Administration Antonio Fleta in a letter to the Provincial Government of Benguet, local government of La Trinidad, BSU and the Benguet Farmers Marketing Cooperative, sought for letters of commitment as well as program of works "to ensure the progressive and successful implementation of the project."
CPLA eyes candidates for integration into AFP
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The integration of the Cordillera People's Liberation Army (CPLA) into the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will soon be realized.
CPLA chairman Arsenio Humiding announced that the final validation of members of the CPLA is set and a masterlist of candidates for AFP integration has been submitted making way for the final stage; inclusion to the Philippine Army as recognized soldiers of the government army. “Ito na ang bunga ng ating proyekto, ang integration sa AFP.”
Mankayan FPIC resumption eyed
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Stakeholders from the province up to the National Commission of Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) are hoping to resume the stalled Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) proceedings in Mankayan town.
Governor Nestor Fongwan and Mankayan officials were called together with some concerned agencies to determine how to proceed with the mandated FPIC proceedings between Far Southeast Gold Resources Inc. (FSGRI) and the local community.

Australian experts study Philex TP4
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Australian consultants have been tasked to study plans for the new tailings pond 4 (TP4) of Philex Mining Corporation.
Resident Manager Libby Ricafort said a continuing assessment is ongoing in the proposed area at Bannawel to construct TP4, saying “We are at the design stages now.”

External Affairs Officer of the BSU – ATIBI – IC and BAFC Betag group Norman Mangawe said prices are expected to surge in the coming month because of berries are naturally off season crops during rainy months.
Road accident victims get assistance
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Governor Nestor Fongwan said medical and financial assistance has been extended to all victims of the fatal Buguias road accident Saturday.
The governor, with Mayor Melchor Diclas was on site during the accident and facilitated the hospitalization as well as rescue of the passengers of the ill-fated vehicle.
Philex asks to extend Padcal operations
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Philex Mining Corporation (PMC) has asked for the extensions for its temporary operations to fill the void left by its defective tailings pond.
Resident manager, Libby Ricafort, said that on the last month of a four-month temporary operation, the mining company has filled 2.5 million tons of tailings in its tailings pond 3.
