Masbate mayor’s lover gunned down in Cebu
CEBU CITY (Updated) -- A woman who was said to have been living with a mayor from Masbate was shot and killed, while the mayor’s sister was injured an hour after they arrived in Cebu City Monday morning.

Police, Comelec to set rules for citizens’ arrest
TO PREVENT abuse from political candidates, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) agreed to establish protocols in implementing citizen’s arrest for poll violators.
PRO 7 Director Marcelo Garbo Jr. said they want to set up protocols that would limit such practice to prevent candidates from harassing its opponents.
Police beef up checkpoints vs. crimes
WITH at least five shooting incidents involving motorcycle-riding-in-tandem suspects recorded in the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) per month, constant checkpoints and police visibility are two factors that will help lessen crimes.

Comelec exec warns violators of rules on campaign materials
THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) warned candidates who violate campaign regulations that they may be disqualified from the May 13 election.
Comelec 7 Director Temie Lambino said candidates who violate size and placement requirements for campaign materials will have three days to act on notices of violation from the poll body.

SEVEN houses, two vehicles and a dog were lost in a fire that broke out in Barangay Apas, Cebu City yesterday noon.
At least 49 individuals were left homeless, said Barangay Apas Captain Ramil Ayuman.
