2 ‘big-time’ drug pushers nabbed
JOINT personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Davao region and Philippine Air Force (PAF) arrested two big time drug pushers in a buy-bust operation in Tulip Drive, Barangay 76-A on Wednesday.
2 more houses robbed
TWO houses were robbed in separate incidents in Davao City on Wednesday, victimizing an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) and an employee of a gasoline station.
The first incident happened around 7 a.m. at Purok San Lorenzo, Buhangin. The victim was identified as Joan Maquiling del Mondo, a 26-year-old OFW and a renter of #0407 Sto. Niño St.
Davao police record slight hike in crime volume
THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) recorded a slight increase in the crime volume for the first quarter of 2013 compared to same period last year.
Based on the data gathered by the DCPO-Investigation and Detection Management Branch, the Davao police office tallied a total of 2,863 crime incidents, or a 5.25 percent increase compared to last year's total of 2,689 in the first three months.
Police visibility heightened vs crimes
SASA Police Station commander Superintendent Royina Garma said the police station is increasing police visibility in the different communities in Davao City to reduce the numbers of crimes.
Out of the 35 crimes against property, 15 were robbery incidents while 20 are cases of theft.
Suspected thief nabbed
POLICE arrested a suspect who was caught in the act of stealing inside a house in Barangay Tungkalan, Toril, Davao City at 1 a.m. Sunday.
The suspect was identified as Bobby Otico Abejuela, 29, and a resident of Purok 1, of the said barangay, while the victim was identified as Jerelyn Tamayo Borja, 26, and also a resident of the same barangay.
Basketball league set for pushers, users
THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is holding a basketball tournament for teenagers linked to drugs in a bid to further combat the proliferation of illegal drugs and minimize crime.
DCPO director Senior Superintendent Ronald M. Dela Rosa said by organizing a basketball tournament, he expects a decrease in the involvement of teenagers in drug-related activities and other crimes.
2 slay suspects nabbed
POLICE arrested two of the three suspects who figured in a shooting incident that killed a 19-year-old man Friday at Samantha Homes in Lizada, Toril, Davao City.
The suspects were identified as Lestger Cascejo Fuentes, 18, a jobless resident of Sitio Sook, Rasay St., Toril and alias Randy, a minor and resident of Barangay Daliao Toril.
Bautista proclaimed new Davao Sur governor
PROVINCIAL Board of Canvassers (PBOC) for Davao del Sur chair lawyer Gay Asuncion Enumerables declared the winners of key provincial positions in the May 13 midterm elections.
PBOC declared Claude Bautista as the newly-elected governor while incumbent provincial board member Aileen Almendras was proclaimed vice governor.
2 missionaries, government worker robbed
TWO missionaries and a government employee fell victims in separate robbery incidents in Davao City Thursday.
The first robbery took place around 7:45 a.m. at No. 65, Saturn Street, GSIS Heights Subdivision, Matina, victimizing Grace Lumibao Moron, 37, a native of Valencia, Bukidnon, and Heidi Barrientos Gaffud, 43, a native of San Pedro, Laguna.
Crucial special polls in Compostela today
A SPECIAL election for voters in clustered precinct no. 22 at Gabi Elementary School in Barangay Gabi, Compostela Valley province is set today to determine the winner in the hotly-contested mayoralty post there.
Provincial election officer lawyer Jennifer Ancla, in a text message, Thursday said all 808 ballots have been accounted for and they are set to conduct the voting process starting around 7 a.m.
