THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 collected P3.226 billion in the last three years so it proposed P1 billion worth of projects, which include the construction of a building that will house its offices.
The LTO 7 submitted its proposed projects to the Regional Development Council’s Infrastructure Development Committee for inclusion in the 2014 annual budget of the National Government.

Flyover funds get sent back
THE P150 million allocated for a flyover project has been returned to the National Treasury, an official of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.
DPWH 7 Director Ador Canlas said there is a separate appropriation for a project in the same area, the intersection of Gen. Maxilom Ave. and M.J. Cuenco Ave. in Cebu City, but it will be for road widening, not a flyover.

A SENATORIAL candidate of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), who attended the CFI Cooperative Convention in Cebu yesterday, said the tax leakage at the Bureau of Customs (BOC) under the administration of President Benigno Aquino III shows that his “matuwid na daan” failed.
Rep. Mitos Magsaysay, who serves in the House committee on appropriations, among others, said her figures on tax leakage came from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
CPA to implement P480-M dredging project in Cebu City port areas
THE Cebu Port Authority (CPA) will conduct dredging in the sea lanes from Pier 1 near South Road Properties (SRP) up to the Cebu International Port (CIP) to accommodate big vessels, which cannot enter the port area during low tide.

BOC to pay P800T monthly for new Port of Cebu office
MALACAÑANG has approved the request of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) to allocate more than P800,000 a month, or P9.6 million a year, to rent half of the second floor of the Quimonda IT building, to be the new home of the Port of Cebu office.
The building is located in the port area near SM City Cebu on Baclig St.
Tuburan mayor dismisses accusation as mudslinging
TUBURAN Mayor Democrito “Aljun” Diamante yesterday said the news item last March 1 accusing him of abuse of authority is unfounded and intended to jeopardize his candidacy in the May elections.
Diamante said the same issues raised by Tuburan Municipal Councilor Marie Tabotabo appeared last month in the local newspapers.
