Bacolod vice mayor: LGUs allocate for election
BACOLOD City Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said that the local government units (LGU) set aside funds for the conduct of the elections sourced from the so-called election reserve.
That is where election expenses are charged by the Commission on Election (Comelec) during elections.
Public Plaza action group to be formed
A TASK force called Public Plaza Action Group will soon be formed to take care of the orderliness and sanitation of the Bacolod Public Plaza.
Bacolod City Administrator John Orola said they will head the task force and it will be composed of representatives from the General Services Office, Public Order and Safety Office, Police Station 1, Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) and Secretary to the Mayor Moises de la Cruz.
Globe's revenue for 2012 reaches P82.7B
FAIRMONT HOTEL, MAKATI CITY -- Globe Telecom has set a new high record in terms of its service revenues for 2012, reaching P82.7 billion or a six-percent rise from a year earlier.

Grupo Progreso justifies loan
NATIONALIST People’s Coalition–Grupo Progreso (NPC-GP) scored candidates from the other camp, particularly former congressman Monico Puentevella for giving misleading information on the outstanding loan the City Government of Bacolod under the administration of Bacolod City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia.
The NPC-GP stated that Puentevella has misled the public by disseminating lies through different media forums and political caucus saying the city government under the administration of Mayor Leonardia has an outstanding loan of P1.4 billion as of the year 2013, thus sacrificing the delivery of basic services.
Sugar producers group endorse Gordon, Zubiri
THE Confederation of Sugar Producers (Confed) has reiterated their support to performing senatorial candidates Richard “Dick” Gordon and Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri.
Lito Coscolluela, former Negros Occidental governor and now Confed President, said that he personally had on his list only the performers.
Escalante: Goons did the bombing
FORMER Manapla mayor Manolet Escalante echoed on Sunday the initial findings of the Philippine Army that armed goons were responsible for the recent bombing incident at Hacienda Lourdes, Punta Mesa, Manapla, using an M203 grenade launcher.
But police authorities are still investigating who and what caused the bombing.
Guv’s assistant figures in road mishap
MANOLET Escalante was involved in a vehicular collision that claimed the life of a motorcycle driver last Saturday.
The former mayor of Manapla was driving his Ford Ranger when he accidentally bumped from behind a motorbike driver Danilo Sotoyosil, 56, of Hacienda Sagrado, in Zone 16 village, in front of Carlos Hilado Memorial State College in Talisay City; the incident claimed the life of the victim.
Zubiri hopes to land No. 2 in Negros
SENATORIAL candidate Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri held his two-day campaign sorties in Negros Occidental, visiting 20 towns and cities in Northern and Southern Negros last Thursday and Friday.

Legarda: CPSU should receive higher subsidies
REELECTIONIST Senator Loren Legarda promised on Thursday to push for higher government subsidies for State Colleges and Universities (SCUs) in Negros Occidental.
Legarda made the statement during the 63rd commencement exercises of the Central Philippine State University (CPSU) in Kabankalan City.
