Council supports 'sin tax' law
THE Davao City Council passed on first reading a resolution supporting the proposed "sin tax law" which is pending in Congress.
With no questions asked, the councilors, in Tuesday's regular session, unanimously voted for the approval of the proposed resolution, requesting for a cumulative support from the City Government of Davao to House Bill 2757, which is set for second reading in the Lower House.

Mayor pushes creation of 4 city offices
DAVAO City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio will push for the passing of ordinances that will institutionalize the establishment of four separate offices, which are at present under the City Mayor's Office (CMO).

The City Council in its Tuesday session approved on first reading the request of the group of cockpit operators to amend the city's Revenue Code specifically on the provisions that restrict the schedule of cockfights.

Body formed to keep eye on water quality
THE Davao City Government has created the Local Water Quality Management Task Force to keep the quality of the city's water sources.
The City Government, through the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro), will be responsible in providing overall administrative control and supervision of objectives of the task force, which was formed last May 23 through Executive Order (EO) 16 series of 2012.

AMONG the 20 Davao City councilors who have submitted their Statement of Assets and Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) for 2011, Councilor Paolo Z. Duterte has the most number of real properties – with eleven.
A copy of SALN of the 20 councilors obtained by Sun.Star Davao from the City Council secretariat showed that Councilor Melchor Quitain is next to Duterte with seven real properties for the same filing year.
