Airport employee tries to mulct mayor?
DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said an x-ray examiner at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport II (Naia II) apparently tried to mulct her when she arrived from Israel, but she let it pass.
Duterte was on her way to Davao on May 12 from her Israel trip when the man in-charged of the x-ray machine picked out a refrigerator magnet, which was Duterte-Carpio’s souvenir from Israel, from her luggage.
Mayor knows alleged corruption in assessor’s office
DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said on Monday she already knew about the alleged corruption at the City Assessor’s Office even before her father, Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte talked about it a few weeks ago.

A TOTAL of 233 of the 288 Persons Living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (PLHIVs) across Davao Region are from Davao City.

Construction starts for modern P2.7-B container terminal
THE 2.7-billion Davao International Container Terminal (DICT) to be constructed in Panabo City will bring the island's export and import industries to international level.
Alexander Valoria, president and chief executive officer of the Anlocor Group of Companies, which owns and manages the DICT, said the facility will be operational in the first or second quarter of 2013.

Logging ban nets P33.7-M hot logs
AFTER a more-than-a-year moratorium on all logging-related activities in natural and residual forest across the country since February last year, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) confiscated a total of 6,746 cubic meters of hot logs worth P33,757,467.
Claudio Jumao-as, chief of the forest resources and conservation division of DENR, said on Thursday that some of the confiscated logs are now being converted to school furniture like arm chairs, desks, blackboard, among others.

Claudio Jumaw-as, chief of the Forest Resources and Conservation Division of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Davao, told reporters Wednesday that these two government officials have been linked by their informants to illegal logging activities in the province.
