25 grantees complete LifeSkills Training at USLS

THE third batch of 25 grantees of the LifeSkills Program recently completed their 436-hour training in Commercial Cooking NC II at the University of St. La Salle.

All 25 grantees passed the Tesda Competency Assessment last March 6, 2009 and will have their Completion Rites on March 15, at 4:30pm at the Santuario De Lasalle.

The LifeSkills Program is an outreach program for out-of-school youth aged 18-26 undertaken by the University of St. La Salle, in cooperation with the 4th Congressional District which provides the Tesda training vouchers, and the Eduardo Cojuangco Foundation which provides the grantees with a daily meal allowance for the 55-day training program.

The grantees are: Eleanor D. Colmenares, Sandra M. Cornelio, Stephanie G. Crispo, Mary Grace M. De Luna, Mark Paul M. Dela Rosa, Joyland A. Escalona, Regina Feby J. Franco, Nestle O. Gamilla, Von P. Gemelo, Ricky J. Japitana, Jemah J. Jolipas, Joshiela Y. Magbanua, Resyl J. Mendoza, Donna C. Napalinga, Lovely P. Navales, Erlina C. Pana, Allaine Joy H. Preira, Helen Rose A. Salomon, Laarni A. Sebua, Kareen May S. Tadena, Jay-ann R. Teriales, Jym Berlee R. Tilanas, Karen Joy D. Valencia, Shiahane O. Varona, Lerma J. Villaflor, Jenny C. Zamudio.

The training program was handled by Ms. Julie Cortez, a TESDA Certified trainor, with the support of Chef Richard Ynayan, Director of the USLS Institute for Culinary Arts (ICA) and other ICA Chef Instructors including Chef Elizabeth Coscolluela, Chef Pamela Sy and Chef John John Gauzon and guest trainors, Ms. Najie Nillos, Ms. Judelyn Bigbig and members of the USLS Hospitality Management Department.

The Communication Arts component was handled by Ms. Nana Yulo and Mr. Jeffrey Fuentes while the Information Technology component was taught by Mr. Tony Arca and Mr. Joemarie Heradura, all of USLS

The Completion Rites is expected to be attended by the parents/guardians of the grantees and University officers led by the President/Chancellor, Bro. Ray Suplido FSC PhD. Tesda Provincial Director Yolanda Porswitczh and Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer are expected to grace the occasion.
