563 couples to exchange vows on Valentines Day

SOME 563 couples in Bacolod City will tie the knot on Valentines Day at the Bacolod Bays Center in a mass wedding set by the City Government at 9 a.m. on February 14.
Already, the wedding is the City Government’s tradition for several years which Mayor Evelio Leonardia said: “will be a record, a biggest ever in terms of number of couples to be wed.”
Leonardia said the annual wedding activity is only one of the city’s program aimed at promoting family welfare and of the children thus legalizing unions of many couples in the city.
Also the mayor said the mass wedding is part of the city’s activity held during the month of February in line with the Civil Registrar’s Office observance of the National Civil Registration Month.
A big reception party at the Bays Center will follow after the wedding, said Leonardia, adding the local officials are expected to attend the occasion.
Meanwhile, Secretary to the Mayor lawyer Vicente Petierre III said funds intended as livelihood assistance for the market vendors have been released already.
Petierre said P100,000 as financial assistance were released to Bacolod South Public Market vendors, Bagtas Association, and Bonifacio Luzuriaga vendors while P50,000 for Alangilan Market Vendors Association.
