WHEN former President Corazon Aquino catapulted the Marcos dictatorship in 1986, the Filipino people rose from the dungeon of injustices and inhumanities.
Now, with barely three months left, Filipinos under a new president will have a historic bargaining, if not renewal of “social contract” then, people will still suffer the consequence of a corrupt government for the country and the government itself is “subjugated” by traditional politicians, said Bukidnon Representative Neric Acosta.
Acosta was here in Bacolod City along with his two lineups in the senatorial race under Liberal Party: Negrense lawyer Alex Lacson and Dr. Martin Bautista whose wife’s a Bacoleña.
The trio visited the city and the province for the official launch of the party’s electoral campaign headquarters.
Acosta said Cory had gracefully and peacefully restored democracy that resulted to social transformation which he said his party will hold with a strong conviction that Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, son of the former president, vows to continue the legacy his parents left for the Filipino society.
On the other hand, Lacson said because of corruption there is no total peace in the country. “The country is getting poorer and poorer and Filipinos are divided.”
In corruption, the government losses P150 billion a year which is more or less 20 percent to 40 percent of the government’s budget but are stolen from the coffers.
Martin theorized that these billion money’s worth could help address the country’s plight towards achieving a health community with health families because health services should corruption is wiped out.
Same also in education which Acosta noted that money from the government coffers are at a loss because of corruption reasons why education system becomes insignificant.
Acosta cited that the said money could even afford for the teacher’s doubling of their salaries.
“It’s all about empowering people…that is why Filipinos should unite for one common goal that is to change the government with a new president whose moral ascendancy if strong and intact,” said Lacson.
Further, Acosta noted that because of corruption, justice system in the country becomes questionable due to impartiality.
And as an alternative, Noynoy is the best choice, he said.
Bautista also said they are optimistic that their standard bearer could beat the other presidentiables.
Based on their platforms, Liberal Party’s interest is on good governance, budget principle of private and public partnership, people empowerment, job or employment generation, education, others.
