Bacolod City constructs artesian wells for water generation

TO RETORT the El Niño phenomenon and the dry spell in the city, Bacolod City Government has implemented the special projects on the construction of artesian wells in the entire barangays of the city.
Engineer Amy Tentia, officer-in-charge on Special Projects of Planning and Design Division Office, said Friday the City Government continues to distribute artesian wells in barangays of Taculing, Villamonte, Singcang, Pahanocoy, Alijis, Sum-ag, Felisa, Mansilingan, Granada, and at the Abada Escay relocation site.

Tentia noted that they already put up almost 40 artesian wells in said barangays and repaired damage water facilities upon the requests of the barangay officials and residents.
She added that the local government has allotted P14 million for the implementation of these projects.
Tentia also stressed that because of El Niño phenomenon, the requests of these water facilities increased to 30-40 percent compared to last year, especially on repairs. She also cited that several barangays had requested for additional wells due to low supply of water that may not enough to supply its constituents.
