BACOLOD Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Negros Occidental Governor Isidro Zayco are among the awardees of the Sandugo Award, which will be held in Manila on July 29, in time for the Hall of Famer awards for barangay captains.
Bacolod’s Hall of Famer punong barangay is Salvacion Sembilla of Granada, while Cabug’s Riboni de Paula is also among the awardees of the Sandugo.

The notice was contained in a letter from Dr. Luisa B. Efren, provincial health officer II, and noted by Enrique Pinongan, provincial administrator of Negros Occidental.
The Sandugo Awards is an annual prestigious award giving tribute to all partners in ensuring sustainable and accessible quality blood for all at all times. This year’s theme for the Sandugo is: “My One Percent Target Population to Achieve 100 Percent Voluntary Nonremunerated Blood Donation Nationwide.”
The Sandugo national awarding ceremony for the 1st and 2nd time awardees for the barangay captain category, on the other hand, will be held in Cebu City at 7 p.m. of July 9.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod City government will distribute nutrition information and education materials dubbed as Pabasa kits to 36 barangays during the flag ceremony Monday, which will also serve as the launching of the 35th Nutrition Month for the year.
This year's celebration has the theme: "Wastong Nutrisyon Kailangan, Lifestyle Diseases Iwasan."
On July 10, a program will be held to be participated in by both city employees and barangay nutrition scholars. On July 22, a refresher course on the “Pabasa” will be held and participated in by the scholars, followed by a distribution of seeds and seedlings.
The culmination program and awarding of prizes to winners of the different activities will be held at the Bacolod Arts and Youth Center on July 31st.
