Massive inspection of businesses launched-A A +A
Friday, June 27, 2014
THE Bacolod City Permits and Licensing Division led by acting head Marie Ann Biasca said they have launched a massive inspection of business establishments in the city to determine their compliance in obtaining business permits.
The joint inspection team is composed of representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection, City Health Office, City Planning and Development Office, among others.
The inspection was launched after Mayor Monico Puentevella issued a stern warning that business establishments operating without permits will be closed down.
Biasca said that before the mayor announced the warning, they met with Puentevella to give him an update on the status of business registration in the city.
As of May 31, 2014, there are 15,516 business establishments registered with their office, which means that these firms operate with business permits.
They have already inspected more than 2,000 establishments as of June 16, 2014.
“This is the first time that the city is conducting a tax mapping drive,” Biasca said.
She added that her team has reported that there are 281 business establishments which did not renew their business permits and 281 without records.
In 2013, there were 17,711 registered business establishments in Bacolod.
