BACOLOD City Public Employment Service Office (Peso) head Anthony Ayco said they are accepting applicants for tourism and call center jobs to be trained under Training for Better Access to Job Opportunities (Trabajo) program.
Ayco said that from January to August this year, they received more than 300 applicants from various villages, and some of the applicants are out-of-school-youth.
He said about 40 applicants were already employed by various call center companies in Bacolod.
The Trabajo is a three-year program and the beneficiaries are required to finish trainings based on their selected courses, and the Peso will tap private institutions for the jobs training.
About 260 applicants for housekeeping were deployed last week to various schools to undergo training.
In 2016, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Unit (DILG) released a P15-million funding assistance to Bacolod which will be allocated for the trainings and facilities.
A memorandum of agreement was signed between the City Government and the DILG, and the Peso was tasked to tap private institution to train beneficiaries.
Ayco said they are accepting applicants who are residents of Bacolod to avail the program for free.
“After the training, we will make an assessment for their employment,” he said.
Applications can be submitted at the Peso office at the Bacolod Government Center.
