TWO Bacolod City councilors are requesting the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to investigate into the cases of “vanishing” cellphone loads and require immediate action from telecom companies.
This as Councilors Wilson Gamboa Jr. and Jocelle Batapa-Sigue sponsored a resolution requesting the NTC to look into the matter.

They said it is the role of the NTC as the government agency created to regulate and perform quasi-judicial functions regarding communications, adding that the State recognizes the vital role of communication in nation building.
“It is a prevalent situation that cellphone loads vanish, and this is a situation even with Bacolod prepaid subscribers that it affects the economies of subscribers who are consciously tightening their belts at this time of economic crisis, but who remain to prioritize cell phone loads,” the aldermen said.
The aldermen expressed their support into the Senate inquiry on the matter, and call on the different private communication enterprises --Smart, Globe and Sun -- to explain and monitor such occurrences and for NTC to act accordingly in regulating and imposing disciplinary measure on those companies.
