DSWD to give assistance to victims

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) national would give P70,000 core shelter financial assistance for the fire victims of Barangay 19 in Bacolod City.

Fernando Alabado, DSWD regional project development officer, said Wednesday that they would give P70,000 core shelter financial assistance for the fire victims if there would be a lot donated for the victims who have lost their houses, and P10,000 emergency financial assistance to each victim.

But Bacolod Representative Monico Puentevella said he would donate a 50-square meter property in Purok Monico, Barangay Cabug for the fire victims in Barangay 19, adding that the residents could avail of the relocation site if they would choose to transfer to Barangay Cabug.

Alabado said the national DSWD would give P70,000 core shelter financial assistance if the said residents would follow the house design of the DSWD, and if not, the office would give P50,000 local assistance if the homeowner would make and build the house design.

He said they would first secure the deed of donation of the lot, noting that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will check the area for the requirements needed. He added they would process the documents and pass it to the national office.

Alabado noted that the core shelter design of DSWD has special features that could withstand a 180 kilometers per hour typhoon, noting that homeowners that were affected with said tragedy are those who could avail of the said financial assistance, adding that they would prioritized those affected families of Barangay 19.

He said they would give the P70,000 core shelter financial assistance to the affected families that are willing to transfer to the designated area.
