TWO loose firearms were surrendered to the police, one in Toboso town and the other in Escalante City, in northern Negros Occidental.
The surrender is part of the aggressive campaign of Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office on loose firearms in the province.

Arcelor Baynosa, 55, of Sitio Tigub, Barangay Salamanca, Toboso town surrendered a homemade shotgun with cartridge and Ermon Damalerio, 37, of Barangay Udtongan in Escalante City of his homemade caliber 38 revolver, said Police Chief Inspector Rico Santotome Jr. Noppo public information officer.
Meantime, a hand grenade was endorsed to the local PNP station through Police Superintendent Antonietto Canete by Kagawad Romeo Gorge, 48, of Purok 2 in Barangay Sarait in Himamaylan City.
The grenade was found in a riverbank sometime last October, Canete said.
PNP provincial director Police Senior Superintendent Manuel Felix has issued directives to the 31 local police chiefs and four Provincial Mobile Group directors to exert efforts in the accounting of unregistered guns and unrenewed firearms licenses in the province.
Further, Noppo will conduct aggressive operations against firearms holders who won't avail of the extended Firearms General Firearms Amnesty program, which will end on Nov. 30 to ensure a peaceful and orderly 2010 elections.
