Flyover groundbreaking in October set

Monday, September 6, 2010

THE groundbreaking rites of the flyover project at Lacson–Circumferential Road in Bacolod City might be held on the first week of October this year, Bacolod City Representative Anthony Golez said.

President Benigno Aquino III and Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson will possibly grace the occasion, said Golez.

The Bacolod City Council has ratified during its session last September 1, the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) entered into by the city with the DPWH's President’s Bridge Program (PBPO) and the DPWH-Western Visayas office on the construction of the flyover.

Councilor Caesar Distrito, City Council chairman on the committee on laws, ordinances and good government, moved for the ratification of the MOA.

The Negrenses for Noynoy Movement (N4NM) has opposed this P384 million project because the country is still suffering from financial deficit.

"The project has to be implemented because the materials have been there in the stockyard of the National Government since the time they were bought through a lump sum purchase years ago," Golez said. (Carla N. Cañet)
