Thursday, March 18, 2010

THE Pulupundan Philippine National Police (PNP) filed on Wednesday charges against town Administrator Federico Infante before the Provincial Prosecutor's Office.

PNP Chief Inspector Joshua Villasis said that shooting of victim Marcelo Somo was a clear evidence that Infante carried his firearm outside his residence without an exemption from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Gun Ban.

Recently, Infante shot Somo following a heated argument between them. The victim is still confined at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment of his wound in the ankle.

Somo is said to be a supporter of former slain Mayor Luis Mondia and was among the 32 residents of Pulupandan whose house was ejected by the present administration.

Infante, meanwhile, immediately surrendered to the authorities after the incident.

Meanwhile, Roque Benetua, 18, was arrested in Victorias City for possessing an improvised shotgun with one round of live ammunition, said PNP chief Police Superintendent Jomil John Trio.

Benetua was arrested during the conduct of saturation drive inside a KTV bar. He is detained at Victorias City Police Station pending the filing of appropriate charges against him in court. (Teresa Ellera-Dulla)
