SAN Miguel Beer star Dondon Hontiveros said Sunday that he feels bad that two of his teammates, Danny Ildefonso and Marc Pingris, have been meted out one game suspensions on top of fines for figuring in the chasing of a fan in the gallery at the end of Game 2 of the ongoing best-of-seven title series for the championship of the PBA fiesta Conference at the Araneta Coliseum.

“I feel that we lost an excellent opportunity to take off when that incident happened and now we have to make important adjustments going into Game 3 (yesterday),” the San Miguel Beer hotshot told Sun.Star Bacolod in a telephone interview prior to Sunday’s game.

Asked about their big comeback in Game 2 after they lost the first game, 106-92, to sister team Barangay Ginebra, the soft spoken Hontiveros said: “I think we came out more mentally prepared in Game 2—we were able to play better defense and make up for our being badly beaten in rebounding in Game 1.”

But the former University of San Jose-Recoletos varsity star and ex-Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA) Cebu Gems starter was quick to add: “But now it will be back to square one for us with our depleted lineup and I know Ginebra will try to take advantage of the absence of our two mainstays.”

He said contrary to reports that Ginebra will have to make adjustments following its Game 2 loss it will be San Miguel Beer that will have to make crucial adjustments no matter what the outcome of Game 3 will be. (HCV)
