FOR the first time, a hospital drill was held in Kabankalan City Thursday.

Conducting the whole-day drill were the Office of Civil Defense Region 6, province of Negros Occidental, Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital, Coalition of Emergency Responders Group of Western Visayas and they city of Kabankalan. The participants are Lopuez, Gaisano, and the new and old city halls.

The drill aimed to enhance the skills and capabilities of the different task units of the City Coordinating Council and improve the emergency response of the hospital-based and pre-hospital based responders.

The drill was the city’s kick-off activity in celebration of the National Disaster Consciousness Month this July.

An opening ceremony was also held at the Kabankalan City Hall prior to the drill with Mayor Pedro Zayco and Gov. Isidro Zayco giving the welcome and opening remarks, respectively. Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas, director of the Police Regional Office 6 and chair of the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council; Raul Banias, asst. secretary , Office of the President, Presidential Assistant for Western Visayas and Dir. Ronald Flores, CEO, civil defense executive officer of OCD-DND also gave their respective messages.
