TWENTY Negrense beauties vying for the Lin-ay Sang Negros 2010 title were presented Wednesday at the Event Center of SM Mall-Bacolod.

“Our blessings go with her as we are fully supporting her (Daphne) and we are confident she could also win…we’re sure 90 percent,” says Mrs. Villanueva.

Daphne was Bacolod’s Masskara Queen 2009 first-runner up who romped off various awards: Miss Natasha, Miss Princess of Negros, Best in Gown, and Best in Festival Costume.

With a towering height of 5’4 feet tall, Daphne will be graduating this Sunday at the University of St. La Salle for a diploma in Business Management.

And joining the pageant she says “is a dream come true.”

Her mother said she is confident of her because of the Masskara pageant experience she gained.

“She had very good experience and training. We wish her all luck and give her very best to win the crown and make every Bacoleño proud,” said Mrs. Villanueva.

For Khia Marie “Kim” Gicaro, 17, representing Bago City, the “Rice Granary” of Negros Occidental, her mother said “she’s a responsible daughter.”

The eldest of three sisters, Kim is a “perfect cook” her mother said adding “she can cook a variety of basic home menus that not all girls of her age possess the same.”

Mrs. Gicaro says she’s so proud of Kim that aside from her skills in cooking, she also is “the best dancer” for the family.

Kim has been representing Bago in various Modern Standard Ball Room competitions and had won prizes.

In fact, with her dancing skills, she was offered a scholarship for 100 percent discount on tuition fees when she will enroll in college by June next academic year.

Stands 5 feet and 6-and-a-half, Kim plans to pursue a bachelor degree in hotel and restaurant or hospitality management.

She describes herself to be amiable, loving, and a God-fearing person.

Daphne and Kim will join 18 other Lin-ays on March 21 for the Festival Costume Parade & Talent Night at Robinsons Place.

Coronation Night will on March 26, 7 p.m., at the Panaad Park Stadium, in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

This year’s executive director of the Panaad Festival is Marlin Sanogal with Ian De Ramos for the Lin-ay search, respectively. (George M. De La Cruz)
