CITY Prosecutors' office recommended Wednesday a resolution warranting the filing of a libel case against attackers responsible for circulating "black propaganda" materials hitting Mayor Evelio Leonarda's administration.

Such libel charges will be filed against Henry Diono Juarez and John Does, believed to be responsible for the production and distribution of libelous flyers and leaflets describing Leonardia a "crocodile".

Docketed as 09-252, said resolution was signed by assistant City Prosecutor Therese Blanche Boluna and approved by City Prosecutor Armando Abanado last October 12.

On February 21, members of the Composite Enforcement Team of the City Legal Office caught Diono distributing leaflets and flyers at the Bacolod City Public Plaza bearing libelous description of the mayor and other hard-hitting statements against him.

The sole purpose of distributing those propaganda materials was to malign the City Mayor's reputation, said Vicente Petierre, secretary to the mayor.

"To label him as Buwaya (crocodile) has no semblance of truth and the objective was to destroy and besmirch the complainant's reputation and integrity and subject him and his family to public ridicule" said Petierre. (MAP)
