IF THERE’S an art gallery that has been very accommodating to the local visual artists of Bacolod and Negros Occidental, then it is the Galleria Verde located at the ground floor of Robinsons Cybergate right across the old Bacolod airport.
The woman behind this very favorable relationship with the different art groups here in Bacolod City is Maria Roselyn Solinap, the curator of the said art gallery.
For the month of July, Galleria Verde is proud to present the artworks of the members of the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros led by Miss Sony Golez in their group art exhibit called “Ipadayon” in celebration of their 37th year anniversary last July 4, 2012.
Among the exhibited artworks are some stone and wooden sculptures of Mr. Jeff Montaño which formed part of his Bato Balani solo art exhibit at Galleria Verde last June 16.
Special guests on opening day were Maam Patching Puentevella of the Dizon-Ramos Museum, Mr. Nunelucio Alvarado, Marq Herrera and Leee Caesar Atas of Brush Strokes.
The wooden sculptures have a way of making one’s mind wander through their titles Twist of Fate, Solo Parent, Fallen, Uod sa Hibla ng Lipunan and Dog’s Nightmare. Materials used by the artist were pieces of kamatsili, mahogany, old molave, ipil and even the langka (jackfruit) tree.
Thirty-two pieces of artworks were put on display. Eighteen were stone sculptures. Mr. Montaño’s solo art exhibit was displayed side by side with the Prima Art Group’s PAGpinta atbp summer art workshop exhibit which gives one an idea of just how spacious Galleria Verde really is.
