Little bright star in my universe
-A A +ASaturday, July 28, 2012
ONE fine July morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see a tagged picture of seven-year-old Prince Wallace Espiritu Villojan on my Facebook wall. It was then that I learned that my friend’s son had joined the Search for SM Little Stars 2012, which is already on its 6th year.
Prince Wallace, or Wally for short, is the son of Mrs. Maritoni Villojan and the brother of Miss Joanna Francis Villojan, two-time NOPSSCEA gold medalist in the Classical Singing Category secondary and tertiary levels in 2007 and 2010 respectively.
I learned from Mommy Maritoni that Wally joined the contest of his own free will without any cajoling from his mother and sister Joanna.
The search is open to boys and girls from 4 to 7 years old and the qualified youngsters who passed the preliminary screening last July 8 will be showcasing their brains and talents at the SM City Bacolod Events Centre later this afternoon.
Mom Maritoni wanted her son Wally to perform a classical number from the Phantom of the Opera, but this Grade 2 pupil chose to sing the Justin Bieber song “One Time” instead. If this is the song that catapulted Justin Bieber to fame, then it might also be the song that catapults Wally, the “Little Prince of Pop,” to child stardom.
I asked Wally what he would buy for himself in case he won the prize money and his immediate reply was a sports car. And what would he buy for his mother Maritoni? There was no specific answer, except that he will treat his mother to a whole relaxing day at the spa. Mind you, this little boy has a ready answer for any question that comes his way.
As for the ultimate question of what his ambition in life is, Wally answered that he wanted to be a superstar like his favorite showbiz personalities Robin Padilla and Jessy Mendiola.
These are what dreams are made of. Who knows someday they just might come true for SM Little Star aspirant Prince Wallace Espiritu Villojan.
